Upscale event: jackets required for the guys. This is not a formal ball - a dress-to-impress social.

This is the largest Manhattan masquerade Meetup ever. If you have never been to a masquerade social before, you are in for a treat!

For masks, there are many great sites online. Locally, New York Costumes (near Union Square) has a nice selection - of course, there are many costume shops in Manhattan. Amazon is always a reliable and fast shipper with a great selection.

"French Quarter" Belly Dance Burlesque Performances

For this event, there will be two dance shows inspired by the dance culture of New Orleans.

Performances provided for charity by the NYC Bellydance Meetup.

Strawberries for Charity!

Love chocolate-covered strawberries? Tehilla will have delectable treats available with 100% of proceeds to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Free Admission for Meetup Members!

This event has a cover of $20, but Meetup members can attend for free - just say 'Meetup'.

A Charity Fundraiser for Haiti Earthquake Relief

The recovery and rebuilding in Haiti will last for years. To aid the Haitian people, we will be raising funds for Doctors without Borders. Masquerade masks are mandatory for this event - masks will be available for a token cost of $5. 100% of proceeds go to Doctors without Borders.

About La Pomme

Citysearch Review: Fittingly, one of the Big Apple’s most debaucherous mega-clubs is called La Pomme--“the apple,” in French--and it manages to outdo many of its Flatiron District nightlife neighbors with its grandiose 3,500-square-foot interior, 100-foot video wall and whopping $750 table minimums. If you can get past the velvet ropes, you’ll find a sleek space decked out with 20-foot photo murals--depicting models chomping suggestively on apples, ‘natch--by celebrity photographer Fadil Berisha, along with edgy trompe l’oeil wallpaper featuring razor blades and brass knuckles.

About Us

Our parties are hosted by volunteers - everyone works hard to make them unique and fun. We do not make money from our events - any proceeds go to selected charities.

thanks for the inquiry. it is free for any meetup members and all of their guests. the event is jammed (limited to 300 for space) and is 90% meetup - the cover is for some who were invited from the professional/media community but are not meetup :-)

The meet up info states "This event has a cover of $20, but Meetup members can attend for free - just say 'Meetup" BUT how about if we are bringing friends with us. Do they have to pay the $20 or can they also enter for free?

@jack. thanks, will clarify the description. masquerades are a hugely popular party style - we are pulling out all of the stops in this first-ever meetup masquerade! everyone is welcome to bring their own custom masks - volunteers will offer masks for those who come in without one (for $5, for charity). we will also have volunteers taking donations for Haiti regardless

Never been to one of these. If this is REALLY upscale, does that mean it's "little black dress" night for ladies?

question: is the mask purchase mandatory and the only way funds are being raised, or can one bring their own masquerade style mask and donations are being accepted in other ways throughout the evening?
